The California Workforce Association has 3 standing committees; they are: Legislative Committee:The Legislative Committee provides policy position recommendations and critical input on state and federal legislation and activities that impact the workforce system. The Committee informs CWA membership of pending legislation affecting workforce development at the state and national levels. Capacity Building Committee:The Capacity Building Committee works to build the educational capacity of members by identifying training opportunities and providing technical assistance around new initiatives and policies. The Committee works with staff to plan three annual conferences; including a policy conference in the fall, a youth conference in the winter and a practitioners’ conference in the spring. Issues Committee:The CWA Issues Committee works to identify, research and analyze state and federal policy that may impact the local service delivery system. The Issues Committee works closely with partners to formulate and recommend solutions to administrative and procedural issues consistent with the needs of membership. |

The Workforce Investment Act provides the foundation through its system of Workforce Investment Boards and One-Stop Career Centers to address the workforce needs of all companies, both large and small. After twelve years of implementing the 1998 law in regions throughout California, much has been learned about what works and also about what can be done statutorily to better focus the system envisioned by Congress. The following report details CWA's WIA reauthorization recommendations.
CWA produces an annual Legislative Report that details CWA sponsored legislation and all bills that impact the workforce development system. This report is a complete look at all the bills we tracked this legislative session.
