ABOUT THE YOUTH CONFERENCE
CWA’s Youth Conference brings together practitioners and policy makers involved in youth employment, training and education programs. The Conference provides an opportunity to showcase the significant results that our programs achieve to better prepare youth for both life and work success, and the substantial return to our communities through these public investments. This year’s conference, Multiple Choices, will highlight youth providers who are expanding the range of experiences and opportunities for youth, such as self employment and youth entrepreneurship, and explore even more ways that we can diversify our program mix to better respond to youth needs. While mindful of the funding and economic challenges we face, we promise an uplifting event that will help you in your efforts to create viable life and career choices for the next generation, especially for those youth severely affected by the current economy and who are unconnected to education, training or employment. The Conference will harness the tremendous energy, initiative and dedication of youth and staff that work at all levels within our youth employment and education system. will feature youth led sessions, and provide opportunities great examples of policies, programs and practices in the youth employment field, dropout recovery programs, entrepreneurial initiatives, and programs targeted on youth with special needs. Special attention will be given to both public and private funding resources and opportunities that support this important work. Additionally, we will offer basic sessions for new staff covering WIA planning and program operations, youth performance standards, program design, and other federal and state compliance issues connected to youth program administration and implementation. Come and be a part of this dynamic and energizing professional development event that will provide practical ideas for preparing youth for work and the skills and experience they need to succeed in the workplace.
