Meeting of the Minds 2011
September 6-8, 2011

Monterey , CA

Over the years Meeting of the Minds in Monterey has built a reputation for being innovative, informative, enlightening, energizing and renewing. This year will be no different.

While best practices refers to what has worked in the past, our theme of Next Practices points towards the future. Next Practices will provide attendees with exposure to and interaction with thought leaders involved with economic competitiveness, skill acquisition, talent development, and regional initiatives.

Attendees will also have access to representatives from key industry sectors, explore new models for workforce and economic development, and hear first hand about the changing nature of business competitiveness. We will also feature a diverse national panel to discuss new federal legislation pending before both the House and the Senate.

On average, 300 – 350 individuals come together for MMM, including some of the most active Workforce Investment Board members from throughout California, as well as forward thinking staff from local WIBs, One Stop Career Centers, community colleges, economic development agencies, organized labor, and rehabilitation organizations.

Get inspired, connect with an incredible group of people focused on the economy and jobs, and engage with others from your region and state to forge solutions that will help get California working again. Come to Monterey and be part of Meeting of the Minds.

CWA WIA Reauthorization Recommendations

The Workforce Investment Act provides the foundation through its system of Workforce Investment Boards and One-Stop Career Centers to address the workforce needs of all companies, both large and small. After twelve years of implementing the 1998 law in regions throughout California, much has been learned about what works and also about what can be done statutorily to better focus the system envisioned by Congress. The following report details CWA's WIA reauthorization recommendations.
