The California Workforce Association has released the Call for Presenters for the upcoming Annual Spring Conference in San Diego, CA on April 20-22, 2011. Proposals should focus on strategies, programs and initiatives that save jobs, increase the skills of our workforce and help put people back to work. Targeted strategies that address the needs of specialized populations are also encouraged, e.g. dislocated workers, individuals with disabilities, parolees, returning veterans, health care workers, older workers, etc. Please read the details for submitting a proposal and feel free to share this opportunity with your colleagues. The Workforce Investment Act provides the foundation through its system of Workforce Investment Boards and One-Stop Career Centers to address the workforce needs of all companies, both large and small. After twelve years of implementing the 1998 law in regions throughout California, much has been learned about what works and also about what can be done statutorily to better focus the system envisioned by Congress. The following report details CWA's WIA reauthorization recommendations.
CWA produces an annual Legislative Report that details CWA sponsored legislation and all bills that impact the workforce development system. This report is a complete look at all the bills we tracked this legislative session.
