RipplesApril 4-6, 2012
San Diego Marriott Hotel & Marina
San Diego, CA The Spring Conference is designed to enhance the skills, knowledge and abilities of workforce development professionals. This year's them, Ripples, harkens back to the proverbial pebble tossed in a pond, a seemingly small event but with significant consequences. Sessions will highlight programs that are making the biggest “ripples", and identifying ways we can increase the size of our impact, helping take what we know works to scale. Fully aware of the current fiscal context, numerous sessions will offer ideas on how to generate additional revenue to support and expand our efforts. Other sessions will bring industry representatives to enhance our sector strategies. And finally, we want to use the Conference as a venue to better tell our story and describe the return on investment that our programs have on individuals, businesses and our communities. The Workforce Investment Act provides the foundation through its system of Workforce Investment Boards and One-Stop Career Centers to address the workforce needs of all companies, both large and small. After twelve years of implementing the 1998 law in regions throughout California, much has been learned about what works and also about what can be done statutorily to better focus the system envisioned by Congress. The following report details CWA's WIA reauthorization recommendations.
CWA produces an annual Legislative Report that details CWA sponsored legislation and all bills that impact the workforce development system. This report is a complete look at all the bills we tracked this legislative session.
